There are two groups for the poetry competition:

Group A: Aged under 14
Group B: Aged between 14 and 18

You can submit any style of poetry, any length and write about any subject but must show respect for everyone.

Please email your poetry to poetry@festivalofislam.org.uk by 12:00pm on Friday 21 December. You must write your full name, date of birth and provide a telephone number for us to contact you.

Writers of the top 5 poems from each group will receive 3 tickets to the exhibition between 11am to 4pm on 26 December 2007. They will have an opportunity to perform on stage. The eventual winner from each group will be decided with a vote from the audience. 

The winner from each group will receive 3 tickets to the Nasheed concert between 5:30pm and 8:00pm. They will get a chance to perform on stage during the concert. Alternatively, they may decide one of their chosen artists to recite their poem. They will also get a backstage pass to meet the nasheed artists. Autograph material from the artists and photographs taken with the artists will be sent to the winners.

Selected poems will be displayed at the exhibition.

Rules of the competition:

1. Decisions of Festival of Islam organisers will be final
2. No plagiarism; anyone suspected of copying or reproducing someone else's work will be disqualified
3. Any poems received after the closing date and time will not be entered into the competition
